5 box office hits of Persian year 1396 unveils

Five massive hits at Iran domestic box office for the Persian calendar year of 1396 are out with ‘Sperm Whale 2’ winning the highest takings.

On the eve of the Persian New year, a local media report unveiled a 5-item list of top-grossing flicks as per screening schedules in Iranian cinemas during the Persian calendar year of 1396 ending March, 21, 2018.

Saman Moqaddam’s offering ‘Sperm Whale 2’ topped the list with a box office of over 209 billion rials followed by Manouchehr Hadi’s ‘Wing Mirror’ and ‘Patrol 2’ by Saeed Soheili.

‘Sperm Whale 2’ is a sequel to Moqaddam’s hit flick of the same title released in 2015. The pic reveals new fragments in life of the male and female leads featured by Reza Attaran and Mahnaz Afshar, respectively.

Rounding out the top five movies on the list were ‘The Good, the Bad, the Corny’ by Peyman Ghasem-Khani (total gross: over 162 billion rials) and Hamed Mohammadi’s ‘Oxidan’ (total gross: over 107 billion rials).
